Home of the Seldom Scene, many bands that played the Birchmere over the years thought it was the best sounding place in the country. I wouldn't argue with that from a taper's perspective. At that time, when they still allowed open taping,it was, acoustically speaking, the single best place to tape bluegrass. This is a classic show from the "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" tour following the release of Friday Night in America earlier in the year. It certainly wasn't over this night, and this show is good evidence of the top notch playing and explosive high energy that marked their last tour. This is one of the last shows NGR did as a group. "Country Cow" was right on with his searing vocals and everyone's playing was superb as usual. Good Woman's Love gets chopped off halfway, which is painful and I almost didn't include it, but I'd rather let you be the judge if you want it on your disk or not, so it is included. - Dub Irie
