  The LONG AWAITED Update
August 28, 2007

I ran into a few computer problems which kept me from updating as frequently as I would have wanted to, but everything is back up and running now and there is PLENTY of news to report.

The summer is moving along quite nicely. There have been several moments that seem to stand out.
First, we got to see Howard Levy throw down a few tunes, which reminded us of old times.
[June 28, 2007, July 5, 2007]

Misunderstood finally returned [June 1, 2007]. I still think it's weird that this song, which was frequently played before the hiatus, made the album . . . then disappeared. It's great to have it back and it sounds great live.

We also got to see the return of some great older tunes. Blue Bop showed up a couple times, the Hippo is back in full flight, Hurricane Camille is back with force, and Vix 9 has been quite frequent. But probably the most surprising is Lochs of Dread, it's back and sounds great. I always enjoy seeing what tunes they decide to bring back every year, and this year has NOT disappointed.

We also finally got a recording of Vic's New Waltz from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Check it out over at archive.org.

But wait, there's more: If you sign up now for the Flecktones mailing list over at flecktones.com you get a free download. I suggest you do it quick before it's not available any more.
The track is Chennai taken from Cains Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 3, 2007.

Also, there have been many new recordings that have come out. I'm attempting to update with as much of them as I can. We've had another Sparrow Quartet recording, Bela & Chick, lots of Flecktones, and even a Spectrum recording from way back. If you haven't checked out the RSS feed for Flecktone/Fleck related show downloads, be sure and add it. It's been down for most of the summer (as has this site), but I got it up and running again, it'll update you when a new Flecktone/Fleck (or anything related) shows up on a number of different sites. Just throw http://www.archivesincowtown.org/rss/tfeed.xml into your favorite RSS reader.

Finally if you haven't picked up Jeff's latest collaboration "The Mondo Trio" or Bela's latest with Chick Corea "The Enchantment" you are missing out.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but we're back now and ready to go!
